Outside of writing, illustrating, and hosting the Big Story Podcast, Alex maintains a private commission list. He works primarily in the digital environment and will send you an archival print of your original art, but is happy to illustrate your piece in pen, brush, and marker!

Commission FAQ

When do I pay?
‍I’ll email you when I’m about to begin your piece, then we can settle payment and shipping details.
What if I live outside of the United States?
‍Posted prices apply for art and shipping within the lower 48 United States. All other destinations will be the same commission price, plus additional shipping/duty/tarrif charges. You must agree to the additional cost before any work begins on your piece. This is your commission piece and you should be comfortable and happy with the process
Who pays duties, tariffs, taxes, etc?
You do
What is the wait time like?
One to three months, depending on Alex’s schedule.
Pencils? Or inks too?
All sketches are inked on 9″ x 12″ illustration board, unless you say otherwise. Color is always an option, but at an additional charge.
Traditional or Digital?
Your choice! Alex would be more than happy to produce your piece traditionally or digitally. All digital commissions are printed as archival art prints.
What about sketches on blank covers?
Please make sure you have made this clear in your email request.
You’ll receive an email when Alex is ready to begin your commission with a mailing address to ship the blank cover.
The finished piece will be shipped to you in the usual way, with the usual terms and conditions.
